Pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data (hereinafter General Data Protection Regulation, abbreviated as “G.D.P.R.”), and the applicable national provisions from time to time in force, Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi informs you that:

Information we collect

The information collected on our website includes, among others:

A) IP ADDRESS, COOKIES AND WEB BEACONS

When you visit our website, our servers automatically detect your computer’s IP address. IP addresses are recorded together with information regarding the web pages you visit on the website. If you access the website via a link from another site, the URL of the originating site and the URL of all sites you subsequently access from our site will also be recorded.

B) PERSONAL DATA

If you register on the website, the categories of data relating to the Data Subject (hereinafter collectively “Personal Data”) that will be processed by the Data Controller include:

  1. Common data:
    • first and last name;
    • address or other personal identification elements (province of residence, gender);
    • email address and phone number;
    • image (photograph if you choose to upload a personal photo to your account);
    • username and password chosen during registration (related to your account);
    • education and cultural background;
    • employment (current occupation, curriculum vitae);
    • bank details for the payment of university fees.
  2. Special categories of Personal Data (Art. 9 G.D.P.R.):
    • data revealing racial or ethnic origin.

Method of processing

Personal data will be processed using electronic means in compliance with the provisions of the G.D.P.R. and applicable national legislation, including through the use of profiling tools for the automated verification of the minimum age required for enrollment at the University.

Purpose of processing

The Personal Data of the Data Subject are collected, processed, and stored by the Data Controller for the following purposes:

  1. maintaining the general and personalized content and functionality of the website. Personal data are also used to respond to your requests and provide assistance when using the website;
  2. ensuring the correct execution of administrative and institutional procedures and enabling the most efficient use of services provided by the University;
  3. within strictly necessary limits, even after the termination of the contractual relationship, for other purposes related to the institutional activities of the Data Controller, including statistical purposes, compatible with the purposes for which the data were initially collected;
  4. direct marketing by the Data Controller and/or by third parties to whom the data are communicated, particularly for sending advertising material, direct sales communications, market research, or commercial communications through automated contact methods (email, distance communication systems via communication networks such as SMS, MMS, WhatsApp) as well as traditional methods (postal mail). The legal basis in this case is Article 6(f) of the G.D.P.R.

Personal Data are collected and processed by the Data Controller in accordance with the G.D.P.R. and applicable national legislation for the implementation of the relationship between the Data Controller and the Data Subject, ensuring adequate security and confidentiality and preventing unauthorized access or use of personal data and processing equipment.

Who may process the data

Personal Data may be made accessible, in accordance with the purposes described above, to employees and collaborators of the Data Controller in their capacity as authorized personnel, internal data processors, or system administrators.

They may also be accessible to third parties (such as website management and maintenance providers, suppliers, etc.) performing outsourced activities on behalf of the Data Controller, acting as external data processors. To whom the data may be communicated

Personal Data may also be transferred by the Data Controller to third countries where it has or will establish offices.

The transfer does not require specific authorization if the third country guarantees an adequate level of protection based on an adequacy decision of the European Commission pursuant to Article 45 of the G.D.P.R.

In the absence of such a decision, the Data Controller may transfer Personal Data to a third country only if the guarantees and conditions provided by Article 49 of the G.D.P.R. are met.

The management and storage of Personal Data will take place on servers located within the European Union, owned by the Data Controller and/or by third-party companies duly appointed as Data Processors. Currently, the servers are located in Italy and the Netherlands.

If necessary, the Data Controller may transfer servers to countries outside the EU, ensuring compliance with applicable legal provisions and, where necessary, adopting standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Duration of processing

The Personal Data collected will be retained by the Data Controller for the time strictly necessary to fulfill the purposes described above and, in any case, no longer than the deletion of the user profile.

Personal Data retained for statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89(1) of the G.D.P.R. will be pseudonymized, provided that the statistical purpose can be achieved in this way.

Rights of the data subject

The Data Subject has the right to request from the Data Controller:

  • access to their Personal Data;
  • rectification or deletion of such data;
  • restriction of processing concerning them;
  • objection to the processing;
  • data portability.

The Data Subject also has the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

The Data Subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority:

Providing Personal Data to the Data Controller is necessary for registration on the website https://www.unimarconi.it/en/ and for accessing the services offered. Without such data it will not be possible to complete registration or use the services.

Pursuant to Article 21 of the G.D.P.R., the Data Controller further informs the Data Subject that they have the right to object at any time:

  • for reasons related to their particular situation, to the processing of Personal Data under Article 6(1)(e) or (f), including profiling;
  • to the processing of Personal Data for direct marketing purposes, including profiling related to such marketing;
  • for reasons related to their particular situation, to the processing of Personal Data for statistical purposes.

Pursuant to Article 34 of the G.D.P.R., the Data Subject has the right to be informed without undue delay by the Data Controller in the event of a personal data breach likely to present a high risk to their rights and freedoms, unless one of the conditions set out in Article 34(3) applies.
