Lazio ERDF Programme 2021–2027. STEP Lazio Call for Proposals: Support for the Development and Manufacturing of Critical Technologies.
Current environmental risk monitoring systems are fragmented and primarily focused on emergency response, offering limited early warning and decision-support capabilities. PRISM-E addresses these limitations by developing an integrated, predictive platform that combines satellite remote sensing, autonomous drones equipped with thermal cameras and an innovative electronic nose, IoT sensors, and a three-dimensional Digital Shadow of the territory. Leveraging Artificial Intelligence, the system integrates and analyzes multi-source data to predict wildfires, floods, and landslides, generate early warnings, simulate risk scenarios, and provide real-time decision support. The platform is designed to ensure secure communications, data protection, and operational resilience through a dedicated cybersecurity framework. The electronic nose represents the project’s key technological innovation, with potential applications extending beyond environmental monitoring to healthcare, industry, and public safety. Targeting Civil Protection authorities, regional and local governments, utilities, and infrastructure operators, PRISM-E responds to the growing European demand for climate risk prevention solutions, helping reduce the economic and societal impacts of natural disasters while improving the effectiveness of emergency response.
