Investigative Journalism is a fundamental pillar of information, essential for investigating facts, exposing injustices, and bringing to light truths that are often uncomfortable. In this module, we will examine the role and techniques of investigative journalism, from its theoretical foundations to its practical applications.
We will study historical cases such as Watergate and the investigation of President Leone, emblematic examples of the power of investigative journalism. We will reflect on why this type of journalism is often obstructed and on the risks faced by those who practice it. A specific focus will be placed on the relationship with the judicial system, with particular attention to the use of confidential and institutional sources, as well as experiences from investigations into mafia and terrorism.
Finally, we will explore the language and techniques of audiovisual and television investigations, tools that are increasingly central in modern journalism for engaging audiences and making investigations more effective.
This course will provide theoretical knowledge and practical tools to approach investigative journalism with professionalism, rigor, and responsibility.
The content of this course is drawn from the teaching materials of selected modules of the Master in Digital Journalism and Multimedia Communication, offered in collaboration with Il Messaggero and Guglielmo Marconi University. It represents a tangible opportunity to access high-level university training in short, dynamic pathways that can be immediately applied in the professional world.
