CIMEA. Call For Project Proposals Addressing Educational and Digital Poverty

In recent years, the increase in absolute poverty and the decrease in cultural and educational spending have contributed to creating a challenging environment for young people. The growing dependence on the internet and social media, exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, has further worsened the situation, leading to mental health issues and social skill deficits among youth. Addressing these challenges requires an integrated approach involving families, schools, and social institutions. The project aims to tackle these challenges by seeking to combat educational and digital poverty among young people aged 8 to 18 in the Vanchiglia area of Turin, where there is a notable lack of significant cultural initiatives. Through a series of targeted activities, GenD is committed to providing constructive alternatives to the nightlife culture and the risks associated with drug trafficking and alcohol abuse. The project offers a comprehensive strategy to promote digital education and family well-being, preparing families to navigate the ever-evolving digital world consciously through the following activities:

  • Development and analysis of case studies to maximize the project’s impact.
  • Thematic meetings for parents focusing on digital issues and social, psychological, and emotional distress during adolescence.
  • Workshops, events, and social gatherings for young people led by experts, followed by moments of socialization and the promotion of healthy technology use.
  • Informative material and digital awareness initiatives to support families in the responsible management of technology.
  • An 8-hour online training course for parents to address digital challenges and promote a balanced family environment.
