Overview

The course Fundamentals of Economic Sciences aims to foster in young scholars the ability to understand and further explore the dynamics and influences of economic sciences.

The objective is to provide a basic interpretative framework of the fundamental economic sciences from a historical, analytical, and business/managerial perspective.

The History of Economic Thought module focuses on the study of the historical development of economic thought from its origins to the present day. It examines the works and theories of the most significant authors and provides an in-depth analysis and comparison of the theoretical systems that have emerged over time. This module also enables students to acquire general knowledge in the field of economic science.

The Political Economy module is aimed at understanding the methods by which individuals rationally use limited resources to satisfy multiple needs. The program is divided into two sub-modules: microeconomics and macroeconomics.

The Microeconomics module explores the concept of economics, the aims and methods of economic science, the fundamental characteristics of the economic method of inquiry, the analysis of consumer and firm behavior, and the various forms of market equilibrium.

The Macroeconomics module analyzes macroeconomic equilibrium, economic policies, and the role of the Central Bank.

The Business Methodologies and Quantitative Determinations module aims to train students in the concept of the firm and in the set of quantitative measurements that arise from business operations and contribute to the formation of income, assets, and economic–business equilibria. Particular attention will be given to representing the dynamics of business management in support of operational and strategic decision-making, to the logic of general accounting, and to the creation of corporate value.
