Training Courses Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Overview

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is the professional role introduced by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 (GDPR). DPOs are responsible for supporting data controllers in public and private companies with regard to the application of the Regulation.

As of May 25, 2018 (the effective date of the GDPR), all public and private companies, institutions, and all entities processing sensitive data have been required to comply with the regulation and appoint a Data Protection Officer (DPO), a position that can be internal or external to the company.

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a professional with in-depth knowledge of privacy regulations and practices, as well as the administrative rules and procedures that characterize the specific sector in question. This role enables them to perform support and monitoring, consulting, training, and information functions within the company regarding the application of European and national regulations.
