Research & Development Area

The Research & Development Area is the University’s unit dedicated to R&D activities, international cooperation, and the promotion of initiatives related to innovation at the national, European, and global levels.

In particular, the Area provides managerial, financial, administrative, and, when necessary, technical-scientific support to the Departments in the formulation and implementation of projects in response to national and European funding calls. Activities range from Framework Programs such as Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, to LIFE and Interreg programs, as well as measures financed by the PNRR and regional calls.

Thanks to consolidated project management expertise and extensive experience in managing complex initiatives, the Area has coordinated the University’s participation, as lead partner or project partner, in numerous research projects on strategic topics such as: Renewable energy; Advanced communication systems for sustainable mobility; Training programs in emerging fields such as FinTech and Artificial Intelligence; Modernization of higher education in non-European countries; Development of new methodologies and quality assurance frameworks for the use of digital technologies in teaching.

The portfolio of activities also includes: Structured collaborations with companies and institutional stakeholders; Support for the design of new professional training pathways; Analysis of digital transformation processes; Participation in the definition of international standards for innovation management; Initiatives to enhance local territories and productive systems.

These activities are complemented by specialist services for the productive sector, including:

– Certification of skills acquired through projects funded by Interprofessional Fund Notices, supporting company upskilling and reskilling processes;

– R&D Tax Credit Certification, carried out by an internal commission of experts tasked with conducting an in-depth technical-scientific analysis of eligible activities, providing companies with qualified support in all phases of reporting and verification.

Thanks to constant interaction with the business community and its strong innovation focus, Unimarconi is consolidating an increasingly central role within the national innovation ecosystem. In this perspective, the University has launched several strategic initiatives through the Area, including the creation of the Generative AI Observatory – GAILIH, an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to the study, monitoring, and responsible application of generative AI technologies in production sectors, services, and education.
