Overview
The course approaches the work of the press office and the communications professional from a practical perspective, providing solid knowledge of the profession. It offers a comprehensive study of the role of the communicator in the modern era, starting with an understanding of all traditional tools at their disposal and their correct use, moving on to the management of new technologies such as social networks, and analyzing case studies to highlight best practices and the most common mistakes. The course also examines the management of media crises, focusing in particular on the role of fake news and on developments in the field of communication brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Objectives
By the end of this course, the student/participant will be able to:
- Know and understand the role of the communicator, the tools available, and how to use them. In addition, the student will be provided with the necessary knowledge to deal with various emergency and routine situations in the practice of this profession.
- Gain a well-rounded, practical, and concrete understanding of the communicator’s work. They will be able to professionally manage communication tools: drafting a press release, organizing an interview, an event or a conference, creating a communication campaign, and managing press coverage and mailing lists. The student will also acquire the technical and practical knowledge needed to navigate the world of social media communication.
- Improve their own communication skills and independently apply the content of this course to different professional activities, in order to understand what constitutes news, how it is managed, and what it should produce in terms of media visibility or image enhancement.
