The economic-business area promotes and coordinates scientific research on economic and business topics, with particular attention to current trends and the impact of new technologies. Research lines cover, among other subjects, international management and marketing, with a focus on country branding and Made in Italy, consumer behavior, and business strategies increasingly oriented toward sustainability and technological innovation, including artificial intelligence. Another area of interest is the organization and management of human resources, analyzed in light of digital transformation processes and principles of social inclusion and circular economy. Equally important is the study of economic development, approached through theoretical models related to global cooperation and climate change. Analysis also extends to the banking and financial system, with a focus on banking regulation, international monetary policies, and financing instruments for small and medium-sized enterprises. Research activities are conducted at various levels, from micro to macro, considering subjects such as consumers, companies, corporate groups, real and financial markets, and national and supranational economic systems.
Regarding education, the economic-business area addresses the growing demand for professional profiles in managerial and economic-financial sectors, offering a comprehensive and specialized educational pathway. The goal is to facilitate graduates’ entry into diverse contexts, ranging from private companies to public administrations, financial institutions, territorial organizations, trade unions and professional bodies, and national and international research centers. The Department also encourages the continuation of studies in subsequent cycles, thanks to a rich offering of post-graduate courses.
The legal-political area of the Department promotes and coordinates research activities in the legal and political fields, combining theoretical depth with the analysis of practical implications of the institutions studied. Research covers legal institutions from substantive, procedural, and judicial perspectives, considering their interaction with European and international contexts, as well as public and corporate dimensions. Significant attention is also given to the analysis of political and social phenomena, studied in their historical evolution and their most recent theoretical and empirical aspects, with particular focus on crime, political communication, electoral trends, and the history of political thought. Complementing this are studies on the political and social history of the contemporary era, with particular reference to the history of institutions, diplomatic relations, and globalization processes.
In the legal-political field as well, the educational offer aims to prepare professionals with solid skills, destined to work in the legal profession, public administration, companies, territorial organizations, research institutions, and international organizations. The Department supports and promotes further studies in second- and third-level pathways through a comprehensive offering of post-graduate courses.
The entire teaching staff of the Department shares a vision oriented toward developing interdisciplinary research capable of investigating, in an integrated way, the transformations of the legal, economic, political, and institutional systems, following a comparative and international approach. Within this perspective is also the PhD in Legal and Political Sciences, coordinated by Professor Ulrike Haider Quercia, distinguished by its multidisciplinary approach and alignment with the Department’s research lines.
The Department has two editorial series: one produced in collaboration with the publisher ES of Naples, and the other with the University’s own publishing house. Among the initiatives promoted, the Dante Cosi Award, established in memory of the Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences who passed away prematurely, stands out. The award is given annually to deserving students and PhD candidates, who deliver a public lecture during the award ceremony.
The Department also hosts the Research and Third Mission Committee (RTM), which assists the Director in defining and monitoring strategic objectives in scientific research and third mission activities. The Committee is responsible for reviewing activities, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and proposing improvements. Its members are Professors M. Bagarani (Chair), G. Carallo, D. Ceccarelli Morolli, M.A. Icolari, and M. Panci.
The Departmental Fund Allocation Committee consists of members of the Departmental Board, currently composed of the Director, Professor Andrea Ungari, the Vice Director, Professor Michela Matarazzo, and Professors Nunzio Casalino, Francesco Gaspari, Renato Giovannini, and Marzia Rossi.
Departmental contacts are: Professor Marzia Rossi for teaching, Professor Bruno Marsigalia for research, Professor Enrico Maria Cervellati for internationalization, Professor Riccardo Restuccia for third mission and social impact, Professor Maria Assunta Icolari for quality assurance processes, and Professor Cristina Santini for projects.

Teaching
Since its establishment, the Department of Economic and Business, Legal and Political Sciences of UniMarconi has based its teaching approach on three fundamental pillars: flexibility, innovation, and inclusion.
Flexibility, because our ten degree programs and over twenty curricula allow each student to build a tailor-made educational path, in line with their learning objectives and professional growth goals.
Innovation, because we have always valued the potential of new technologies, from the web to artificial intelligence, to enhance the study experience and support the achievement of learning outcomes.
Inclusion, because quality teaching is teaching that, while striving for excellence, guarantees everyone the same opportunities for learning and success.
