Description

The Master program in Banking and Finance provides a comprehensive picture of the international business environment while, at the same time, drilling down into specific areas of core relevance.

The Master consists of several short courses which focus mainly on economics, business economics, international relations and international law, providing in-depth understanding of topics such as market dynamics, financial and development finance, investment evaluation, business consulting in public policy and the organization of venture capital funds.

The program aims at meeting the market needs of companies which want to offer a fast-growing career to selected employees as well as the requirements of professionals interested in personal growth or professional development in service companies and financial firms.

Teachers

Serban Matei

Serban Matei is Director, Head of the International Relations Department of the NATIONAL BANK OF ROMANIA since September 2016. He has been Senior Adviser and member of the executive board of the IMF from 2012 to 2016. His previous career has been all internal to the NATIONAL BANK OF ROMANIA, institution that he joined after his BD, Faculty for Finance, Banking and Accounting at the ACADEMY FOR ECONOMIC STUDIES, Bucharest, Romania (1992).

Angelo Federico Arcelli

Federico Arcelli, a strategy consultant for governments and multilateral organizations, is currently a full professor (“professore straordinario a t.d.”) of economy of international financial organizations at Università G. Marconi, Rome, senior fellow at the Center for International Governance Innovation, “CIGI”, Waterloo, ON, Canada and senior fellow of ISEA.

Alexander Privitera

Alexander Privitera is a Senior non resident Fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies at Johns Hopkins University and senior fellow of ISEA. For many years Mr. Privitera has worked in the banking sector, first as Head Of European Affairs at Commerzbank and then as a senior advisor at the European Banking Federation, where he focused on various aspects of the evolving framework of Europe’s banking regulation, and in particular on efforts to complete the banking union.
Alexander Privitera started his career as a journalist, working for almost two decades as a foreign correspondent and anchor. He was a political correspondent in Brussels, Bonn, Berlin and Washington. He is a frequent public speaker and panelist at conferences in Europe and the United States.

Dominik Weh

Dominik Weh is Co-Head of Oliver Wyman’s Public Sector & Policy practice in Europe and leads Oliver Wyman’s Public Sector & Policy business in Germany. He has worked in-depth with major financial institutions, central banks, supervisors and regulators as well as multilateral and public sector institutions in Europe on a variety of topics, including strategy and policy topics, organisation and governance (Target Operating Models), as well as transformation/ change management. Dominik holds a Master in Business and Economics from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management. He studied in Germany, Australia and Canada.

Martin Stolz

Dr. Martin Stolz is a Partner working at the intersection of Financial Services and Public Policy in Oliver Wyman’s Düsseldorf office. He heads Oliver Wyman’s work on Comprehensive Supervisory Assessments of European Banks since 2017 and is an expert for broader regulatory interface topics within Banking, with extensive experience in Valuation & Balance Sheet Review, Stress Testing, Recovery and Resolution Planning &Crisis Response. Across these topics he has taken a leading role in Oliver Wyman’s on-going work to evolve and adapt market standard risk measurement, -management & supervisory methodologies and processes to latest regulatory (EBA, BCBS, etc.) requirements, stressed macroeconomic conditions (COVID & beyond) and evolving digitalisation of the industry. He holds a diploma and a PhD in Mathematics from the universities of Bonn (Germany) and Bergen (Norway).

Stefan Schwengler

Stefan Schwengler is a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Frankfurt office with extensive experience in advising leading Financial Services institutions and Banking Supervisors in Europe – primarily on the intersection of strategy, finance, risk and banking regulation. Stefan has worked with banks and banking supervisors on some of the largest impact events relating to the European banking industry. This included the introduction of stringent banking rules and stress testing after the Global Financial Crisis, the establishment of the SSM, the 2015 recapitalization of the Greek banking sector, the reorganization of European Financial Services post Brexit and recovery and resolution (planning).
Stefan joined Oliver Wyman in 2009. Stefan holds a diploma (~MSc) in Business from Mannheim University and an MBA from ESSEC Business School, Paris.

Frank Sensenbrenner

Frank J. Sensenbrenner is senior specialized examiner for crypto and digital assets at the US Securities Exchange Commission. Prior to this role, he worked in analytics at the SEC, on climate markets and clearinghouses at the US CFTC, and in bank stress testing at Deloitte and Northern Trust. Frank holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Sydney .

Alessio Conforti

Alessio Conforti, PhD, is a Fellow at the ISEA Center for Studies in Applied Economics, and a lecturer at the G. Marconi University. He is currently responsible for the relationships with the institutional clients at the European Investment Fund (EIF) and has been an advisor to the Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and a manager at the United Nations.

Gianluca Carlesso

Gianluca Carlesso is a lawyer based in Bucharest (Romania) and he deals with M&A, corporate banking and finance. With over 20 years of experience, he has the dual qualification as a lawyer in both Italy and Romania. He boasts enormous experience in consulting with a broad range of high-profile business transactions as well as the field of restructuring and insolvencies. Every year since 2008, he has been recognised by the Chamber of Commerce as being one of the leading commercial and business lawyers in Eastern Europe. He aids companies and multinational, international and local banks. He was a researcher in International Commercial Law at the “LUISS” university in Rome.

Davide Taliente

Consigliere in the Draghi administration (Republic of Italy) on the execution of the country’s Recovery & Resilience plan and attraction of foreign investment from investors & multi-nationals. With Oliver Wyman for >30 years, he is a Partner in the firm’s Public Sector practice (formerly Managing Partner, EMEA). Davide specialises in Public Policy. Most of his work has been with national governments, international bodies (e.g. G20, WorldBank/IFC, IMF, Financial Stability Board, European Commission, European Central Bank), central banks and public/private development banks in Europe. His recent work has concentrated on innovation / economic development, “crowding in” foreign and private capital, national risk assessments, development finance, institutional reform, corporate governance enhancements and financial sector reform. Member of the Oliver Wyman Team that won the “Central Banking Awards”.

Roberto Musneci

Roberto Musneci is the co-founder of Serban & Musneci Associates active in PA and PR activities and CMC Consulting, a boutique M&A Advisory.
Former President of a Major Pharma multinational responsible for Central Eastern Europe, he was a founding VP of the Aspen Institute in Romania for 12 years, President of Amcham and currently President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Romania. In 2019 He was accredite as Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Romania.

Jordi Pujol

He is Associate Professor of Media Ethics and Law at the School of Church Communications at the Pontifical University of Santa Croce in Rome. He has been Research Fellow at the University of Notre Dame (Indiana), Columbia School of Journalism (New York) and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard.
His research is focused in Transparency, Data Privacy and Freedom of expression.

Paola Garbini

Paola Garbini, a Marketing and Communications expert, is currently a professor of marketing and communications of international financial organizations at Università G. Marconi, Rome, European Head of Marketing for Oliver Wyman, Founder of the NOI Club and Founding Member of The Brussels Binder’s BBBeyond initiative.

Emiliano Carchen

Emiliano is a strategic consultant for important commercial and investment banks where he works alongside CFOs and CEOs to define strategies, transform the business and create value in industrial restructuring and planning, M&A, post-merger integration, shareholder activism defense and asset sales.

Andrea Federico

Andrea Federico is a partner at a major international consulting firm. Andrea started his career and worked in the UK for over ten years. In 2007 moved to Italy. He has worked extensively across Europe and EMEA both for private sector firms and public sector authorities. Through his client work, Andrea has built an extensive and thorough knowledge of strategic and governance challenges faced by financial firms and authorities. More recentely, Andrea has taken a special interest and has been working extensively on topics related to the climate transition.

Marco Arcelli Fontana

Marco Arcelli Fontana is presently lecturer in Monetary Economics at the G. Marconi University. He graduated at the University of Illinois, with a Master in Economics. He has been doing research at Banca Commerciale Italiana (BCI), in international economics. At Banca Intesa San Paolo he was coordinator of the Financial Analysis Department. At the City Hall of Piacenza he has been Town Councillor for Finance and Budget. Lecturer of Statistics at the University of Bologna and in monetary economics at the Università Cattolica and Link Campus University, Rome.

Anshu Vats

Anshu is an advisor to senior regional government, defense and commerce leaders on a range of strategic topics, including national economic development policies, country competitiveness, national capacity and capability building with primary focus being realization of benefits from nation building efforts of governments. Anshu is currently the lead partner for Public Sector Consulting for Oliver Wyman. Over his 25+ years of consulting career, Anshu has advised across the globe – in China, South Asia, North America and Europe – on range of pressing national economic, social and industry issues to senior leaders. Prior to Oliver Wyman, Anshu was the lead partner for A.T. Kearney’s public sector and defense practice for EMEA.

Phil Midland

Mr. Phil Midland is President, IHS International LLC, a U.S. company with offices in Arlington, Virginia. He is President of Strategic Renaissance 21 (SR21), a strategic advisory non-profit group led by prominent American business, education, non-profit, and public service experienced leaders assembled for a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to long term strategy, with key entities in the Pacific Region to build new intercultural dialogue that will be sustained with compelling business, organizational and government engagement. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring with the rank of Captain, and has had significant China and Japan in-country experience since 1975. Mr. Midland supported Mr. Andrew Marshall, Director Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of Net Assessment (OSD/NA) for almost two decades regarding political and infrastructure assessments concerning China and East Asia.

Alex Chee Lok Lin

Dr Alex Lin is an Innovation Ecosystem builder in many countries such as China, Vietnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Oman, to name a few. Currently, he is the CTO of Legend Logistics Ltd, and CEO of Legend Fintech Ltd, transforming the logistics SME into a climate sustainable fintech operation. Alex is an active venture builder, investor and lecturer on Fintech Innovation.

Internship and Project Work

Internships will give participants the opportunity to work on a project under the supervision of an academic or company tutor in order to gain practical experience in the field. Internship activities will be instrumental to completing a project work which shall be submitted during the final test in order to earn the diploma.

Assessment Criteria

A set of self-assessment tests is provided for each course. Completing the tests is strongly recommended as it is useful for preparing the final examination which students shall attend before a commission (as per Italian DM 270/2004- art. 11 c.7 lett. e).
